Previous Hearings
Committee: Discipline
Decision Date: 09 Aug 1977
Summary:
In August 1977, the Discipline Committee found Dr. Pye guilty of professional misconduct, as defined in Ontario Regulation 577/75, in that he failed to maintain the standard of practice of the profession, contrary to s. 26(20); and in that he engaged in conduct or an act relevant to the practice of medicine that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional, contrary to s. 26(31). Consequently, the Committee ordered that Dr. Pye be reprimanded, with the fact of the reprimand to be recorded on the Register, but recommended that the Doctor's name not be published. The Committee also ruled that Dr. Pye's surgical privileges be withdrawn, with a condition attached to his licence to that effect. The Doctor would, however, be entitled to re-apply in two years' time if there was ample evidence to satisfy the College that he had had sufficient retraining in surgery.
