Previous Hearings

Committee: Discipline
Decision Date: 11 May 2009
Summary:

On May 11, 2009, the Discipline Committee found that Dr. Vasic committed acts of professional misconduct, in that he: sexually abused a patient; engaged in an act or omission relevant to the practice of medicine that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional; and contravened a term, condition or limitation on his certificate of registration.

Dr. Vasic made remarks of a sexual nature and engaged in sexual behaviour, including sexual intercourse, with a patient. Furthermore, Dr. Vasic practiced medicine while he knew that his certificate of registration was suspended, and failed to cooperate with the College in its investigation of this matter.

On January 13, 2010, the Discipline Committee ordered and directed that:

1. The Registrar revoke Dr. Vasic's certificate of registration, effective immediately.

2. Dr. Vasic appear before the panel to be reprimanded.

3. Dr. Vasic reimburse the College for funding provided to patients under the program required under section 85.7 of the Code, by posting an irrevocable letter of credit or other security acceptable to the College, by February 28, 2010, in the amount of $10,000.

4. Dr. Vasic pay costs to the College in the amount of $14,600 by February 28, 2010.

5. The results of this proceeding be included in the register.

Committee: Discipline
Decision Date: 03 Jan 2007
Summary:

On January 3, 2007 the Discipline Committee found Dr. Vasic to have committed acts of professional misconduct in that he engaged in conduct or an act or acts relevant to the practice of medicine that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional; and that the governing body of a health profession in a jurisdiction other than Ontario has made a finding of incompetence or professional misconduct or a similar finding against the member, and the finding is based on facts which would, in the opinion of the College, be grounds for a finding of incompetence as defined in section 52 of the Code or would be an act of professional misconduct as defined in subsection (1).

On September 6, 2007, the Discipline Committee ordered the following:

1) that Dr. Vasic(s certificate of registration be suspended for 12 months, 3 months of which shall be suspended if he completes, at his own expense, the College(s Medical Ethics Course.
2) that Dr. Vasic pay costs of $5000 and
3) that the results of the proceedings be included in the register.

1990, made under the Health Disciplines Act, R.S.O. 1990. 1990, c.
